As a PADI Professional, you'll be part of the largest, most widely recognized scuba training organization in the world. With more than 5900 PADI Dive Centers and Resorts on the planet, the world is your office - and your playground!

Where to go pro

You can take the PADI Divemaster course from any PADI Dive Shop, Resort, or Individual PADI Instructor. Higher level professional courses are offered by PADI Five Star Dive Centers, Five Star Instructor Development Centers, Career Development Centers, Five Star Dive Resorts and Five Star Instructor Development Dive Resorts.

Depending on the level of professional training you desire, you’ll want to seek a PADI facility that's equipped to offer the best training package for your career path. You can take the PADI Divemaster course at any PADI Dive Center, Resort or Recreational Facility.

To become an Assistant Instructor you need to visit any PADI Five Star facility.

To become an Open Water Scuba Instructor you should find a PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center (IDC). You can take any PADI recreational or professional course from a PADI Career Development Center (CDC).

How to go pro

Whether you're taking your first professional step to become a PADI Divemaster or you're gearing up to be a Course Director you can find the right PADI Dive Shop or Resort to mentor you.

If you're a PADI Divemaster and at least 18 years old, you can you can become a PADI Instructor with 100 logged dives.

As a PADI Professional, you’ll be one of the most sought after dive professionals on the planet. And, with more than 5300 PADI Dive Centers and Resorts worldwide, the world is your office – and your playground.

The PADI System of diver education allows you to progress at your own pace and encourages you to take continuing education programs that enhance your enjoyment and safety. In addition to the prerequisites listed below, you can enjoy more than 40 specialty courses along the way, from Coral Reef Conservation to Digital Underwater Photography.

However, you must have the following scuba certifications before you can enter the PADI Divemaster course (which is your first step towards becoming a PADI Instructor:

To become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor you must complete the following courses:

  • Divemaster Course
  • Assistant Instructor Course
  • Instructor Development Course (IDC)
  • Instructor Level Continuing Education
